mame progress
That first page was a lot of info for a blog…maybe I can use a blog page to record smaller achievements
Things I still need to figure out:
- how can i get glass the same size as my arcade? Maybe I should buy the glass before building. A friend pointed me to quarterarcade.com, but they don’t seem to have any glass in stock. Ok, read Kyle’s plan’s, there is a link to the glass here twobit.com who have glass for $89
- Can I drive the software without a keyboard and mouse?
- Power options…ideally start the computer directly into a game or mamewah and hibernate when not in use…don’t currently know how to power up without pressing the laptop button though. I’ve heard of a product called Smartstrip people use in mame cabinets, (here is a review) but I don’t see this helping me since I have laptop. I guess I could hack into the button on the laptop, but that sounds messy.
-Related to power is the idea of booting off of a usb key…keep the power consumption down by running from a usb key??
- Joystick(s) on the side for two player games and games that don’t rotate? Or can I rotate any game? At one time I thought it would be great to have two control panels, but make at least one detachable so it could be snapped or bolted on to the side, seemed like it would be tough to make it stand up to game play.
-Navigation of front end software (without using a keyboard and mouse)
